Wegovy Meal Plan: 7-Day High-Protein Menu

Wegovy uses semaglutide at 2.4mg — the highest approved semaglutide dose for weight management. Side effects are often stronger than standard Ozempic, making food choices even more important. This plan is built around the Wegovy weekly cycle: injection day, recovery, and good days.

How to use this plan: This is a template — adapt portions to your actual appetite, which may be dramatically reduced on Wegovy (especially during dose escalation). Always eat the protein component first. If you can only manage a few bites, make them protein.

Eating on Wegovy: what's different

Wegovy (semaglutide 2.4mg) is the highest-dose semaglutide available. It was specifically approved for weight management (versus Ozempic at 0.5–2.0mg for type 2 diabetes). Because of the higher dose:

  • Appetite suppression is more pronounced. Many Wegovy users report being able to eat only 30–50% of their previous intake during the first months. This isn't a problem in itself, but it makes protein planning critical.
  • Nausea and GI side effects are more common. The higher dose intensifies gastric slowing. During dose escalation (which takes 16+ weeks to reach 2.4mg), nausea can be significant each time the dose increases.
  • Dose escalation is slower. Wegovy follows a 16-week escalation: 0.25mg → 0.5mg → 1.0mg → 1.7mg → 2.4mg. Side effects reset with each step up.
  • Injection day planning matters more. With stronger appetite suppression and nausea, the difference between injection-day eating and good-day eating is more pronounced.

Nutritional targets on Wegovy

Weekly structure on Wegovy

Inject Wegovy once weekly (Sunday is common for this plan). Your week splits into three phases:

  • Injection day (Sunday): Inject in the evening after a small, early dinner. Broth or crackers only if hungry after injection.
  • Days 1–2 (Monday–Tuesday): Peak nausea window. Small, cold, bland foods only. Fluids and protein sips.
  • Days 3–7 (Wednesday–Saturday): Progressive improvement. By Thursday–Saturday, most people have their best appetite of the week. Use these days to hit protein targets.
